Next Wave Art
Through December 18, catch the arty part of BAM's annual Next Wave Festival. Well, all of Next Wave is arty, but the works here hew to a more traditional definition of the term, including pieces by French painter Jules de Balincourt, conceptual artist Rashid Johnson and old-school New York street artist Lee QuiƱones, who you might remember from such films as Wild Style (1983), Style Wars (1984) and Blondie's video for "Rapture" (1981).

Check out more free Events here and let Desire For Travel & Art know what you think about the Big Apple.

Music & Video Art For ''Sky'' Travellers

As travellers, how often do we truly devote time to appreciate the wonders of the sky? I consider this music video as an artwork reminder of how much we can experience as travellers around the world, just by looking up. On the other hand this also serves as a good example for destinations or Airlines whose aim is to trigger our travel expectations. Look up at the sky...and listen! George Bitsikas at its best!

Desire For Travel Photography

There is something different about Travel Photography. Usually we try to have the perfect frame of a place or a monument. We try to exclude any distracting objects, buildings or even people. We try to create a paradise-like picture of where we have been. There isn't a right or wrong answer to this dilemma.

But surely, there are places around the world that don't need such an efford to picture them. This picture was taken by myself at the village of Oia (Santorini), during the end of an overwhelmingly peaceful and tranquil afternoon. At dawn, one pirate-like ship stood alone in the still waters between the island of Thirassia and Santorini.

It couldn't be more perfect...
